Tractor Info

1918

There can be no doubt that this model was either built by or patterned after the Townsend tractor was built at Janesville, Wisconsin. Apparently, the 12-25 was sold only in 1918. It was a hefty outfit, delivering 2,100 pounds of drawbar pull at rated engine speed. The valve-in-head two-cylinder engine had a 6 1/4-inch bore and 8-inch stroke, delivering 25 BHP at 500 RPM. This tractor resembled a steam engine, but the tubular “boiler” beneath served as both frame and radiator. The engine exhausted into the front-mounted stack and created an induced draft through the tubes. The operating weight was 6,350 pounds.
