A.L. Dyke

In 1901 Dyke offered this little 3V2 horsepower engine, ostensibly to drive a (very) small automobile. Within a few years, Dyke found much greater success with his Dyke’s Automotive Encyclopedia; it remained in publication through many editions for several decades.

Andrew Lee Dyke established A.L. Dyke, the first American auto parts business, in St. Louis in 1899. They sold early kit cars or assembled autos and also sold automobiles under the St Louis Motor Company and Dyke-Britton names.
