J. L. Record and Otis Briggs founded the Minneapolis Steel & Machinery Co. in 1902. Their headquarters were located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They manufactured farming equipment. In 1929 it merged with the Moline Implement Company to form the Minneapolis-Moline Power Implement Company.
