National Meter Company

An engineer for National named Lewis H. Nash developed the Crown water meter. This led to the widespread adoption of water meters. Nash came to be described as the father of the water meter industry and held several patents for water meters and gasoline engines.

National Meter Company was founded by John C. Kelley in 1870. An engineer for National named Lewis H. Nash developed the Crown water meter. This led to the widespread adoption of water meters. In 1941, National was purchased by Equitable Meter Co.
