David Brown Tractors equipped this model with their own four- cylinder, 219.4 cubic inch diesel engine. Rated at 2,300 rpm, it used a 3.939 x 4.500 inch bore and stroke. At rated engine speed, 65.23 maximum PTO horsepower was observed, as was an economy of
15.92 horsepower hours per gallon. At a standard 540 rpm PTO speed and a corresponding engine speed of 1,828 rpm, 55.5 PTO horsepower was developed and an economy of 16.19 horsepower hours per gallon was achieved. This 6,040 pound tractor was carried on 18.4/15-30 rear and 7.50-16 inch front tires. Standard equipment included a selective gear fixed-ratio transmission. Its six forward speeds ranged from 2.43 to 14.3 mph. No repairs or adjustments were reported during 46 1/2 hours of operating time. Using third gear, 54.76 maximum available drawbar horsepower was displayed with a yield of 13.4 horsepower hours per gallon of fuel. Other statistics from the two-hour drawbar economy run include a pull of 4,246 pounds at 4.84 mph and slippage of 5.87%. Operating at 75% pull, the ten-hour economy run elicited an economy of 14.27 horsepower hours per gallon against an output of 45.61 horsepower. Recorded too was a pull of 3,297 pounds at
5.19 mph with 4.17% slippage. Additional front and rear ballast gave a total test weight of 10,555 pounds.
