The low tension ignition, in most Advance engines, was ahead of the industry since most 1898 engines were still using hot tube ignition. Hamilton engines also featured an overhanging cylinder, thus permitting free expansion.
As early as 1898 the Hamilton engine appeared. It was built by the Advance Manufacturing Company, of Hamilton, Ohio.
