Buda Company

By 1920, Buda was offering nine different direct-current light plants, ranging from 10 to 30 kilowatts. Alternating current generators were offered in sizes from 17 1/2 to 37 1/2 kilowatts. All models used the appropriate Buda four-cylinder engine, with generators, switchboards, and other equipment at the buyer’s will.

history

Buda was founded by George Chalendar in 1881. The company was founded to make equipment for railways. In 1910 they began to manufacture engines for industrial, truck, and marine applications. These engines were gasoline-fueled, and later diesel engines were introduced. These engines utilized proprietary Lanova cylinder head designs, injection pumps, and nozzles, and became known as Buda-Lanova diesel engines. In 1953, Allis-Chalmers acquired Buda Engine Company, and the Buda-Lanova models were renamed “Allis-Chalmers diesel”
