Clark Bros. Company

Despite hundreds of workers volunteering for military service during World War II, the facility continued to run around the clock to aid in the war effort by keeping the oil fields of America running. The company received an Army-Navy “E” pennant on its 63rd birthday in 1943.

history

Clark Bros Company was started by Charles and William Clark in 1880. They started building farm and sawmill equipment and later pumps for the explosion in Southern Tier oil development. A fire destroyed the facilities in 1912, and they moved to North Olean. In 1918, to aid the war effort, the large engines for drilling and compressors were transitioned and they became one of the largest employers in the city. In 1930, Clark Bros and Solomon R Dresser Co. merged to form Dresser-Clark.
