One of the few advertisements we have ever found for the Edison battery and coil appeared in 1906. The Edison was a “wet battery” which meant that the electrolyte was liquid and thus was suitable only for stationary engines. Of note is the design and proportions of the Edison spark coil, which they guaranteed would produce a “fat, hot spark.”
Originally known as the United Edison Manufacturing Company, and often known simply as the Edison Company, the Edison Mfg Co was organized by Thomas Edison in 1889. United Edison Manufacturing was succeeded by New Jersey-incorporated Edison Manufacturing Company in 1900 and the company’s assets and operations were transferred to Thomas A. Edison in 1911 and the Edison Manufacturing Company was dissolved in 1926.
