history

Frank Wade founded Fairmont Railway Motors in 1909. The name was changed to Fairmont Gas Engine and Railway Motor Car Company in 1915. They manufactured rail vehicles formed from the Fairmont Machine Company. They acquired Mudge and Company in 1928 and the railcar interests of the Fairbanks-Morse company in 1955. Fairmont merged with Harsco Corporation to become part of Harsco Track Technologies in 1979.
