history

In 1913, the Dodge brothers, Horace and John, created a successful motor car company. The company grew and by 1915 was the second-largest car manufacturer in the USA. Both brothers died from influenza in 1920. Horace Dodge Jr, Horace’s only son, began his own venture in 1923 called Horace E. Dodge Boat Works. They would use car assembly techniques to build wood boats, branded under the Water Car name. As the economy worsened in the 1930s, Dodge Boat Company products were unaffordable to the majority of the public. A decision was made to close operations in the mid 30s.
