history

Lennox Machine Company was named for David Lennox, an inventor, and businessman. Lennox began building engines around 1894. After suffering a destructive fire in 1911, the company had ongoing labor problems and in 1913, was incorporated as Lennox Throatless Shear Co. The name was again changed in 1919 to Marshalltown Manufacturing Co.
