Lycoming Mfg. Company

For 1935, this famous engine manufacturer was offering engines from 35 to 325 horsepower. The smallest four-cylinder model used a 3 1/8 x 3 7/8 inch bore and stroke. Their largest engine was a V 12, it was designed with a 4 3/4 inch bore and stroke. It had a high idle speed of 2500 rpm and weighed 2250 pounds.

Lycoming Mfg Company began producing sewing machines and bicycles as the Demorest Manufacturing Company in 1845. In 1907, they became the Lycoming Foundry and Machine Company. They began to develop automobiles engines in a market that was being driven by the needs of the war. In 1929, inspiried by Charles Lindberg’s trans-Atlantic flight, they began developing aviation aircraft engines and continue to do so to this day.
