Advertised during 1916 and 1917, the Elgin Comet from Parcelle was a little utility engine rated at 1 1/8 horsepower, but weighing only 75 pounds complete as shown here. The two cycle design permitted speeds up to 1,000 RPM, something not normally seen in the heavy, double-flywheel contemporaries of the day. Using a 2 1/2 x 3 inch bore and stroke, the Elgin also featured a small cooling fan belted from the flywheel. The company also announced plans to introduce a similar design using two cylinders but no confirmation of this style design can be found. From all appearances, Parcelle was a successor to Elgin Wheel & Engine Company of the same city. For 1916 the elgin COmet was preice at $39.25.
