Founded in 1836 by Samuel V. Merrick, Southwark Foundry & Machinery Company was located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Hydraulic machinery and equipment were its main industry. The firm combined with Porter-Allen Engine Company in 1880. In 1929, it was acquired by Baldwin Locomotive Works and shut down operations in 1945.
