United Engine Company

One of the most popular sizes for United and Associated alike was this 1 3/4 horsepower engine which both firms retailed for an even $40. As previously noted, United engines featured a modified sub-base compared to Associated, and were sufficient to minimize their similarity and make them truly competitive with each other in the trade. united also carried a vendor-supplied fuel mixer, while Associated used readily interchangrable. In a letter to all dealers, dated August 28, 1915, United noted that henceforth all engines would carry the fuel tank inside the engine base instead of carburetor design shown here, plus fibre insulated holders for the ignition wires.
