Western Electric entered the field by the early
1920s, offering models like this small outfit. It was
also equipped with a power pulley for driving an
overhead lineshaft.
From the period of about 1910 to 1930, farm electric
plants were a national rage. Cities and even
small towns were enjoying the pleasures of electric
power by the early 1920s, but there were no rural
power lines, so farms and many small communities
had the engine-driven power plant as their only option.
