Wolverine’s line ran the gamut from small single cylinder 5 horsepower engines up to this big six cylinder, 200 horsepower model. Using an 11 x 15 inch bore adn stroke, this gigantic engine operated at 300 RPM, and oculd handle a 60 inch propeller. Shipping weight was 16,630 pounds. For twin screw service, Wolverine provided right and left hand propellers, with all controls toward the center of the vessel. Under this arangement powers up to 400 horsepower were attainable. In a 1926 communication from Wolverine to Tri-City Pleasure Boat Company at Davenport, Iowa, the company revealed the cost for their 32 horsepower, four cylinder engine. Intended for a pleasure boat 45 feet in length with a 13 foot beam, thsi engine was priced at $2,250 f.o.b. Bridgeport.
Wolverine’s early history remains obscure, but their 1926 line included an extensive series of four cycle marine engines. Shown here is the starboard side of a two cylinder, 12 horsepower Model B engine featuring a 5 1/2 x 7 inch bore and stroke. In addition to a gear-driven magneto, all engines included the necessary batteries adn vibrator coils for starting, as well as for use in case of an emergency while out of port. Each engine was also equipped with a small air compressor for operating the air whistle that came as part of the package.
