In 1912, John I. Hoke at Washington, Indiana announced a new tractor of “Universal” design. Hoke later received a patent covering the machine. Only one size was built, with minor alterations in design and horsepower. The 1917 model was rated a 12-24.
As a result of a promising new tractor, Hoke Tractor Company was formed in 1913, in South Bend, Indiana to market and build the “Universal”. The tractor directories do not list the Hoke Tractor Company after 1917.
