Oliver used their own six-cylinder diesel engine in the 1655. This six-cylinder desing included a 3 7/8 x 4 inch bore and stroke for a 283 cid. Rated speed was 2,200 rpm, and the compression ratio was 16 to 1. A diesel row-crop version listed at $10,800, and with the four-wheel-drive option, the price jumped to $14,612. The 1655 was tested at Nebraska in May 1970; the results appear in Test No. 1041. In this test the 1655 Diesel delivered slightly over 70 pto horsepower, and nearly 62 horses at the drawbar.
