Six-cylinder smoothness was featured in the 283 CID White 2-70 tractor. Other features of this diesel model included a high capacity, dry-type, reusable air cleaner; a see-through glass fuel filter; wet cylinder sleeves, and seven main bearings to support the engine crank-shaft. A six-speed constant mesh transmission was standard equipment, with an Over/Under hydraulic 12-speed unit optionally available. An independent 540 RPM PTO was standard, with a 540/1000 RPM dual-speed PTO available as an option. It was available in 4×2 2WD or 4×4 MFWD 4WD.
