This tractor was very similar to the Case 430 series tractors which it replaced. It was aviable with a Case 3.1L 4 cylinder diesel engine or a Case 2.4L 4 cylinder gasoline engine. It had a compression of 17.5:1 in the deseil engine and 7.1:1 in the gasoline engine.
