Tractor Info

1960-1968

The first offering from Czechoslovakia was this tractor, which featured the company’s own four-cylinder diesel engine rated at 1,650 rpm. Using a 4.134 x 4.724-inch bore and stroke, it had a 15.6:1 compression ratio and a 254 CID. Also featured was a 12-volt electrical system. The Zetor was equipped with a selective gear fixed-ratio transmission of eight gears ranging from 0.73 to 16.5 mph. Fifth gear was used for the drawbar fuel tests, and at 43.98 maximum available horsepower, a puU of 4,361 pounds was recorded at 3.78 mph with 7.6% slippage. This two-hour test indicated a fuel economy of 13.47 horsepower hours per gallon. A ten-hour run, made at 75% puU, recorded an economy figure of 14.29. The latter test, run at 35.07 drawbar horsepower, also shows a puU of 3,278 pounds at 4.01 mph with 5.35% slippage. Bare tractor weight was 6,421 pounds, but additional front and rear ballast brought the test weight up to 9,805 pounds. Standard equipment included 14-28 rear and 6.50-20 inch front tires. At a maximum load of 49.47 PTO horsepower and a rated engine speed of 1,650 rpm, fuel economy came in at 15.72 horsepower hours per gallon. This figure went up to 16.05 using the standard PTO speed of 540 rpm and a corresponding crankshaft speed of 1,555 rpm. During the drawbar runs the valve stems in the rear tires failed. Repairs were made and the testing continued. With this exception, the Zetor 50 went through 52 hours of running time without incident.
