Model Information
1948-1954
Oliver 77 Row Crop tractors first saw light in 1948. apparently, some experimental models had been built in 1947. Cast iron or stamped steel wheels were an option, as was the use of the Tip-Toe steel wheel. However, the latter would fit only on the cast wheels. The same mounted tools could be used with this model or with the 66 and 88 models interchangeably. Likewise, it appears that virtually all of the previously mounted implements could be used on these tractors. The great success of the 66,77, and 88 tractors was due in part to the standardization of parts and to the heavy use of interchangeable parts. This made it easier for the dealer to keep all parts on hand, reduced the parts inventory at the factory, and of course, reduced manufacturing costs.
