The Ford 981 was apart of the 901 Powermaster series and was produced in Highland Park, Michigan. These tractors featured a Ford 2.8L 4 cylinder gasoline engine, a Ford 2.8L 4 cylinder LP gas engine, or a Ford 2.8L 4 cylinder diesel engine. The Ford 981 had a 4×2 2WD chassis, a 10-speed full power shift transmission, and differential mechanical expanding shoe brakes. These tractors also featured a dual-speed independent PTO and a three-point hitch.
