Farm Engineering Company made a brief entry into the tractor business with their “ Little Chief” announced in 1916. This machine was fitted with a four-bottom power lift gang plow. Power was provided by a four-cylinder engine of 5 1/2 inch bore and 5 5-inch stroke, developing 45 BHP. This unique engine was one of the very few four-cycle reversible motors ever used in a tractor. Two forward and two reverse speeds were provided. This tractor was developed in Oshkosh, Wisconsin by A. J. and O. G. Patch. J. P. Burke, formerly with the J. I. Case and M. Rumely firms was also one of the executive officers. The Little Chief sold for $1,500 by itself or $1,800 with the gang plows. The weight of the unit was 4,500 pounds. It appeared in some tractor listings as late as 1918.
