Tractor Info

1912-1917

The 30-60 Mogul tractores used a unique 1 horsepower air-cooled starting engine. It was equipped with a small friction pulley which could be set against the flywheel for starting. Cranking the behemoth engines by hand was a man-killing job, especailly in cold weather. A right hand view of the 30-60 Mogul illustrated the one horsepower starting engine just forward of the flywheel. A clamping arrangement permitted easy removal for other farm uses if necessary. Roll-down curtains were provided for the cab openings — an important feature when running in cold weather. Sidecurtains running the length of the engine canopy gave weather protection when the tractor was not being used. OF the 2437 Mogul 45 and 30-60 tractors built, only a very few still exist as highly valued remembrances of days gone by.
