1954-1960

The Oliver OC-12 crawlers appeared in 1954, replacing the Oliver-Cletrac BG and BD models. The diesel model continued to use the Hercules DJXC engine as in the Model B, but the diesel model was improved substantially by the use of a Roosa-Master pump, plus a new head and manifold design. In addition, the rated speed was raised to 1,750 rpm. A brochure prepared for Oliver dealers compares the OC-12 in size to the Caterpillar D-4 or the International TD-9 tractors. Many different options were available for the OC-12 tractors, and as previously noted, this chassis could also be set up for a bulldozer or an end loader. Several styles of grousers were available, including rubber treads and ice grousers. Another option was the special Hi-Life track wheel units. This design required lubrication only once every 1,000 hours. Tapered roller bearings and face-type seals were features of this design. Standard features included an over-center hand clutch. The OC-12G (gasoline) model left the market in 1930, followed the next year by the OC-12D (diesel) model. The OC-12D with the Spot-Turn feature listed at about $9,000.
