In 1911, Minneapolis Threshing Machine Company
entered the tractor business with the 20 horsepower
“Universal” tractor. It was built by Universal Tractor
Company, Stillwater, Minnesota in a vacant building of
the Northwest Thresher Company. This Espe-designed
tractor was sold not only by MTM Company, but also by
Universal Tractor Company, Skibo Tractor Company, and
others. Rumely sold it under the name “GasPull”. As late
as April 1913, MTM was advertising the Universal Tractor.
