Tractor Info

1940-1954

The W-9 was a standard tread tractor manufactured in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Melrose Park, Illinois. It was available with two engine options, the International Harvester 5.5L four-cylinder gasoline engine or the International Harvester 5.5L four-cylinder distillate engine. Both engine types were 4×2 2WD with manual worm-type gear steering, differential external contracting band brakes, a five-speed sliding gear transmission, and an open operator station. The 9-series consisted of six models, the W-9 gasoline, WD-9 diesel, WR-9 rice, WDR-9rice diesel, I-9 industrial, and ID-9 industrial diesel. The rice models had larger fenders and a hand clutch to allow driving while standing. The Industrial models had different gear ratios and foot-operated throttle.
